Quilt Line As the Third Design Element
One Day ZOOM Workshop
Course Description - One Day Class: Do you have a quilt top that you don’t know how to quilt? Do you want to hear about new ideas on how to bring out the best in your quilt top? Then this is the class for you!
This is a class that will help you find new ideas on how to use quilting to enhance the look of your quilt. We will be talking about design, not technique. The main objective is to use quilting lines to add interest, create depth, texture, tension, or just WOW to your quilt. Lines can be inspired by an endless variety of things (nature, architecture, technology, etc.) to add visual interest and reinforce the overall design of your quilt. Even straight lines can become a design in themselves.
Participants email a full view picture and a detail picture of their quilt top to Hollis. She downloads them onto a flash drive and then, as a group, we look at one quilt after another and talk about what each person wants to bring out in their quilt top, how to “fix” areas you don’t like with quilting, or how to add another design through quilting. In addition, we talk about how to draw the quilting lines on quilt tops and lots of other tips that will help you quilt your top.
So choose the quilt top that you are stuck on or the latest quilt that you are working on! We can work through figuring out the quilting design and colors together. You can choose either a traditional patchwork top or a contemporary design.
