Artist Statement:
Disappearing Treasures is about how humanity is destroying the earth’s plant and animal species.
The plants I’ve portrayed in this piece are some of my favorites, pitcher plants and agaves that I have growing in my garden.
Even though I’ve never had the opportunity to scuba dive, I’ve always loved photographs of coral reefs and I’ve made many pieces portraying coral.
In this piece I’ve combined corals with my favorite plants. And they are being bleached...losing their dazzling colors because of pollution, development, and chemicals.
