African Fabric Montage

For years I collected the fabrics of West Africa simply because I loved them. Now they represent the people I knew when I lived there. The beauty, elegance and liveliness of the fabrics seemed to be woven throughout the everyday life.

The fabrics in this quilt are what inspired me for the backgrounds of the pieces in Stories of West Africa.

Technique:  machine pieced, machine quilted              

Materials: 100% cotton African fabrics, polyester threads, wool/polyester batting
