Madou and Youssouf are washing their sheep in the Niger River in Mali. Many families in West Africa will buy one or two lambs and
raise them to adulthood to sell before the big festivals. These animals are treated like pets!
They are very well fed, they live in the family compounds, and they will follow their owners around like dogs. Before selling the sheep,
families will wash and groom them so they are soft, clean, and radiant.
Technique: colored pencil drawing digitally printed on cotton, machine quilted
