Market Ladies
Market Ladies
Rasmata and Awa are selling pineapples, melons and mangoes in the market. Markets in West Africa are lively, colorful, and a major part of social life. You can find a wide variety of goods including locally grown fruits and vegetables, live animals and freshly butchered meat, prepared foods, clothing, toys, medicines, hardware, and handicrafts. Many tailors, artisans, and cooks also set up small booths and prepare their wares for the public. In the cities, women visit the market daily to buy food and socialize. In the country, markets often take place once per week and are a highlight for many villagers.
